Narisuna Guesthouse

Hands-on Experiences Nature Experiences/Culinary Experiences/Sports Experiences

Meals Available (Meals are prepared with others)

Narisuna Guesthouse is situated on the corner of a residential stretch of coastline in the west side of Kotogahama Beach in Ōda City. The beautiful white sands of Kotogahama stretch out before your eyes. Take a stroll and the sand beneath your feet sounds almost like a koto, a traditional Japanese stringed instrument. This 'cyring sand', or 'narisuna' in Japanese, is where the guesthouse gets its name.
From the terrace you have an unbroken view of the Sea of Japan and Kotogahama Beach. Even during the summer, the refreshingly cool sea breeze makes the guesthouse a wonderful place to stay. While away the hours at a leisurely pace, gazing out at the waves breaking and retreating, and in the evening, be carried off to sleep by the restful lullaby of the waves.
Whether it's swimming or fishing, and other kinds of beach activities, or a visit to Tomogaura, once used to export silver from the nearby World Heritage Site Iwami Ginzan silver mine, or a trip to Yunotsu Hot Spring, with its long history as a health resort, there are all kinds of experiences and sightseeing opportunities on offer.

Number of participants Approximately 1-5 persons
Time required Both a 1 and 2 hour course is available.
Fee 1,000 yen / person

Experience content Enjoy hiking with Mr Matsuura, who knows a lot about the local mountains. Listen to the birds chirping as you make your way up the mountain path. You'll be able to spot plenty of rare plants, fruits, and more. You may even come across squirrels, foxes, raccoon dogs and other cute forest critters. There are two courses to choose from.

1 hour course (30 minutes each way)
The course follows the route that miners would have taken carrying silver from the Iwami Ginzan mine. Following in their footsteps you'll be able to relive the history of the local area. Parts of the trail are unpaved, so please make inquiries if you wish to bring young children with you.

2 hour course (Approximately 1 hour to the summit)
On this course, the goal is the TV tower perched atop the mountain that is visible from the rear of the guesthouse. The wind chill factor keeps things fairly chilly, so even during summer you're unlikely to get sweaty. The view from the peak is exceptional.
